I have what appears like purple powder on the bottom of my fiberglass pool. I vac it up and more settles on the bottom the next morning. It seems to be dissappearing slowly. I sturred up some and and took a water sample. The reading was way over 1.0 ppm so it is (I believe) copper plated out. Does anyone know what could cause that. The rest of the pool water is only abour 0.5 ppm pristine blue.

i believe some how the pristine blue chemical maybe collecting in your filter. and some how it came out in a clump

what type of filter do you have

have you tried to vacumm to waste

the last time this happen to the pool owner used  a large amount of clarafier and did not backwash or clean the filter after 24 hrs when the filter started back up he had a large cloud in the middle of the pool, he vacumm to waste and had no more clouds

I hope this is helpful

I have a new pleated cylindrical filter, Hayward C900. Some pristine blue does collect on the filter but washes off when I clean the filter. I have not used any clarafier, however I've been using a chlorine base shock which according to Pristine Blue information should not be a problem. It's less expensive than non-chlorine base shock.

I was using the shock sold at Wal-Mart, I think it was Aqua-Chem. The calcium level at that time was 250 ppm and no to well water.

I have since gone to the Pristine non-chlorine shock. Most of the fallout is gone. Only a trace is left. Right now the water balance is as follows...pH 7.5, Talk = 100, Cahd = 350 and water is crystal clear.

The test for cyn acid shows high levels approx. 300 ppm. I don't know if that has anything to do with Pristine Blue or why it would be that high.

too much calcium causes pristineblue to loose its strenght the safe levels are 100-300 ppm of calcium too much calcium and pristine blue can break up and fall to the bottom of the pool and i believe this is what happen in your pool. if you can avoid cal-hypo shocks it will save you trouble we recommend 99% sodium di-chlor because is a strong chlorine and it dissipates rapidly.

the only way to get rid of high levels of cyn acid is to dilute the water.  i recommend you use pristinecheck to sequester any excess calcium and pristineclean can also help bring pristineblue back into solution at the rate of 2oz per 10,000 gallons every 2 weeks

i hope this is helpful
